New Hat

For those who know me well, I wear hats.
Not your usual baseball caps.
HATS.
Top hats, Car hats, Fedoras, and most loved by myself: Skimmers. Also known as Boaters.
^Much like this one!
Well the one I have, a "Panama Boater" is a size or so too big for my noggin. So now I've saved, and finally purchased a new one!
Hazzah!

Anywhoots.
SKETCHES OF THE DAY!

Every now and then I get the urge to sketch something in a style much like Art Nouveau! Such a wonderful style it is!
These are two characters (Kita, the fortune teller and Eliza, the librarian, respectfully) that I drew up and intended to finish in Illustrator.
Have I ever mentioned that Alphonse Mucha is one of my favorite artists of all time?
No? Well then, let it be known: I LOVE ALPHONSE MUCHA. Thank you.

Another Monday!

Hello everyone! Back on track from my previous week!
This week I'm gonna post a few rough pages from my current project with Noah Page! YAY!

In no particular order:
This project has been awesome to work on thus far! I finally finished the roughs, and will begin the inking process as Noah sends me the final pencils. Might I add that Noah is an excellent artist/writer himself? Great stuff!

Legal stuffs: Art shown above property of Mark Thorne and Noah Page.

Til Next Time!

Peterli works

Four days late?! OHNO!
Been a bit busy as February finds several Birthdays to celebrate, and a bit of crunchtime with work.

This week's sketch will be a full page for my lack of posting on Monday!
Directly scanned from my sketchbook, this is Peterli Rottenmeir! My take on the Frankenstein Monster character, not as scary as he could be designed I know, but for the universe he comes from it fits I assure you.

Until next Monday folks!

Working right along

Another Monday! And my first Update!
Today's update features some work I've done for my good friend Noah Page, and his story "Gemini Reverse".
Character designs for the main cast (and "boss" of the first issue):

And some sword designs, and the two "Cronies", Dima and Jov, who have quickly become two of my favorite characters.
I'll post more of these later on as we progress.
I'm not going to go too far into details of the story, but let me say, it's a fun project to be working on!

Until' next time folks!

Greetings all!

Hello everyone! And welcome to Mark Thorne's new blog for art!

For those who don't know me yet, I am a Cal State Fullerton graduate with my BFA in Entertainment Art and Animation! Yay! I'm currently on the hunt for a job in the big world of animation studios.

So, I'll be posting here on blogspot in replacement to full upkeep of my old website (due to some complications), and I shall attempt to upload once a week (Mondays sound nice, I'll reserve that!).

Come back soon, and watch the art pile in!
